MAFALDA 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Argentine cartoonist, Quino, created the much loved animated character, Mafalda in 1962, although she wasn't published until 1964. Mafalda is a 6 year old girl strangely conQuino's Mafaldacerned about humanity and world peace. She often leaves her parents at a loss by asking about mature or complex topics, such as war, politics, inequalities etc. The comic strip was very popular in Latin America, Europe, Quebec and in Asia, leading to two animated cartoon series and a book!
The strip ran in a weekly newspaper, Primera Plan from 1964 to 1965, when the publication ceased. One week later, the comic strip began appearing daily in the Buenos Aires' Mundo, allowing the author to follow current events more closely. This newspaper shut down in 1967 but yet again, Mafalda survived and in 1968, was publised in the weekly paper, Siete Días Illustrados. Quino ceased publication of the much loved strip in 1973. After 1973, Quino still drew Mafalda a few times, mostly to promote human rights. In 1976, he produced Mafalda for the UNICEF illustrating the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Our students from 3rd and 4th Primary Education have worked about this character and her friends. These are some of the drawings they've created.

COMICS

By the mid-20th century, comics flourished particularly in the US, western Europe (particularly France and Belgium), and Japan.
This month our students have worked about this topic. Our youngest have created their own comics stripes about mystery or love. They are also known some comics characters such as Tintin and Milu or Mafalda.

ANDALUSIA IN ARTS

During all the year our school works about Andalusia ,but is in February when we make an effort to highlight our region's art.
Our pupils have been investigating about Andalusian artists: painters, dancers, musicians, poets, writers  such as Juan Ramón Jiménez,Pablo Picasso or Sara Baras among others. These people make us more proud of our region and our art.

PEACE ACTIVITIES

During this week, pupils in our school have worked activities to improve life in our school community celebrating Peace Day.
One of them is the tree of friends where after discussing a text about friendship, students have written what are the main values a friend gives to them  or what does friendship mean for them.

                   THE TREE OF FRIENDS

There are persons in our lives that make us happy by the simple chance of crossing our path.
Some of them walk by our side, seeing many moons go by, but there are others that we only see between step and step. We call them all friends, and there are many kinds. Let´s pretend that each leaf of a tree is one of our friends.

Time goes by, summer is gone, and autumn is coming, we lose some of our leaves, some grow the next summer and others stay with us during many seasons. But what really makes us happy, is that the fallen ones are still close to us, feeding our roots with joy. Memories of the wonderful times when they crossed our path.

I wish you, leaf of my tree, peace, love, health, luck and prosperity. Today and always… Just because every person that passes through our life is unique. Always leaves something from his own and takes something from us.

Some may take a lot, but we won´t find anyone that is not going to leave us something. This is the biggest responsibility of our lives and the obvious proof that two souls never find each other by chance.

Another activity we have participated in this week, it’s FREE COMPLIMENTS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS. Because we think everybody needs to listen something good about them. It can change your day so pupils give their classmates or teachers some compliments such as :  “I’m glad to be your friend “or “you have a beautiful soul” just to make someone smile or give them positive thoughts such as : “Be part of life not afraid of it “or “you are a walking breathing wonder”, because we think you become what you think so we want  students to be positive.

Learning HOW TO RESOLVE CONFLICTS is an aim for our school so this week and so on we practise next advice.

IT'S PEACE TIME

During this week, pupils in our school have worked activities to improve life in our school community celebrating Peace Day 30th January. We believe our school must be a place to learn ,grow and enjoy because “two souls never find each other by chance” and we must take care for one another.
MAKE PEACE YOUR LANGUAGE!!!

YOU BECAME WHAT YOU THINK !!!
BE POSITIVE
